Model History
After years of uncertainty and near-extinction, Lamborghini found its rebirth in the early 2000s under Volkswagen Group ownership. Their first major act: the Gallardo. Unveiled at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show and named after Spanish bull breeder Francisco Gallardo, the model marked a new era for the brand — combining German engineering precision with Italian drama. The original blueprint which led to a plethora of Gallardo variants and the forefather to the Huracan supercar making the segment the best selling for the brand since its inception in 1963.
Its 5.0L naturally aspirated V10 produced 368 kW at 7,800 rpm and paired with an analogue open-gated 6-speed manual and all-wheel drive, it offered ferocious pace and exceptional composure. In its first-generation form, the Gallardo delivered a pure, analogue supercar experience — unfiltered, mechanical, and deeply rewarding.
Today, early manual Gallardo's are recognised as landmark models in Lamborghini’s evolution. With limited production, timeless design, and a V10 soundtrack that remains among the all-time greats, the original Gallardo has secured its place in modern classic supercar history.
