Gran Turismo Berlinetta.
INTRODUCTION
The last of Ferrari’s truly analogue V8 berlinettas, before electronics, before driver aids, before the experience was filtered. This 1987 328 GTB is one of just 1,344 produced, and rarer still as a factory Nero car over special order light grey hide. A pre-ABS, concave wheel example with just 76,244 kilometres from new, it was first shown on Ferrari’s stand at the 1987 Earls Court Motorfair alongside the F40. Long-term owned for 12 years and recently comprehensively serviced, it presents as a pure, unrepeatable expression of Maranello’s golden-era road cars, mechanical, elegant, and increasingly impossible to find like this.
VEHICLE HIGHLIGHTS
This 1987 Ferrari 328 GTB is presented in carefully restored condition, reflecting both long-term ownership and a clear commitment to preservation. Finished in factory Nero over special order light grey hide, it represents one of the more distinctive and desirable specifications seen on the 328 platform.
With just 76,244 KM / 47,376 miles from New, this pre-ABS example benefits from the more sought-after concave wheel design and retains the purity of Ferrari’s analogue driving experience. In 2015 the car underwent a thorough restoration focused on maintaining the original specification while elevating overall condition, it has also been complemented by recent comprehensive service works by a marquee Ferrari specialists including service, cambelts, a healthy leakdown test and brand new tyres fitted in March 2026.
Offered with complete documentation including its original Ferrari service book, toolkit, manuals, historic MOT certificates, Earls Court Motorfair and period sales material, it presents as a highly complete and confidence-inspiring example of one of Ferrari’s most important analogue-era models.

A WORD FROM THE OWNER:
What attracted you to purchase the 328?
I’m showing my age with this answer but as a kid this was the Ferrari on a poster in my bedroom, alongside the iconic F40. For me the 328 is my childhood memory of what a real Ferrari looks like - the scoops in the door and those pop-up headlights. Enough said.
What was the acquisition story?
I found this car in Australia after it was imported from the UK. I was looking for a rare GTB as opposed to the much more common “Magnum PI GTS”. I was also looking for a colour other than red so this car ticked both boxes.
Why did you choose it over others?
This car has amazing provenance. It was on display by Ferrari at the 1987 Earls Court Motorfair. I actually attended that show when I was 11 years old with my dad. I remember the Ferrari stand vividly because it was the year the F40 debuted and every Ferrari on display was black that year except for a single red F40. So it was very special acquiring the car I longingly gazed at as a Ferrari crazy 11 year old in London.
What has been your attitude towards maintenance and restoration?
I undertook a thorough restoration with City Performance Centre in Artarmon, including a full body respray in original factory colour. I wanted to keep the car entirely original and purposefully bought the pre-ABS brakes model because it has concave instead of convex wheels which look significantly better on the car in my opinion. Every little detail was paid attention including restoring the original model badges by hand. I have always been fastidious about the condition and maintenance of the car - something that’s evident when you take just one look at it.
Why did you choose to spend the time and money making the 328 this good?
These are “real” Ferraris. Naturally aspirated, combustion V8, pop-up lights, Pininfarina styling and no LED screens! These are the cars worth saving, restoring and savouring.
What was the process like and how does it now compare to how you received it back when you acquired it?
Watching the car come back to its former glory was enormously satisfying. I can distinctly remember the day I collected it when it was fully restored - a beautiful sunny day in Artarmon - paint gleaming. I felt like an 11 year old kid again except this time I had the keys and owned the car instead of standing behind a rope watching it spin on a motorshow stand. It was a special day for me.
MODEL HISTORY
The Ferrari 328 GTB represents the final and most refined evolution of Ferrari’s original mid-engine V8 berlinetta lineage, a formula that began with the 308 GTB in 1975. Across this lineage, Ferrari established a consistent identity: compact proportions, naturally aspirated V8 power, and a driver-focused, analogue experience. The 328 retained this core philosophy while addressing the shortcomings of its predecessor, introducing increased displacement, improved torque delivery and enhanced usability without sacrificing character.
Where the 308 laid the foundation, the 328 perfected it. It delivered sharper handling, greater reliability and a more resolved driving experience, all while maintaining the purity that defined Ferrari’s earlier cars. Crucially, it marked the end of this era before the arrival of the more complex and modern 348, making it the last of Ferrari’s truly classic, analogue V8 berlinettas.
This is what defines the 328 GTB’s importance today. It is not simply a successor, but the completed expression of a decade-long development cycle, widely regarded as how the original Ferrari V8 formula was always intended to be.
FINAL SUMMARY
This 1987 Ferrari 328 GTB stands as one of the most compelling examples currently available, combining rarity, provenance and condition in a way that is rarely seen. One of just 1,344 GTB variants produced, specified in rare factory Nero and presented in near-concours condition, it offers both visual distinction and collector-grade integrity.
Supported by extensive documentation, long-term ownership and recent comprehensive service works, it represents a true blue-chip opportunity within the analogue Ferrari market. The final evolution of Ferrari’s classic V8 berlinetta, refined, rare and increasingly significant.
