Launched in 2019 for the 2020 model year, the R-Spec took the Mustang GT as its foundation and transformed it through extensive second-stage manufacturing in Australia. A Ford Performance supercharger was fitted to the 5.0-litre Coyote V8, alongside significant cooling, suspension and chassis upgrades, all validated to factory standards. Importantly, the car retained full compliance and warranty support, setting it apart from aftermarket conversions. Offered exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox and limited to just 500 individually numbered examples, the R-Spec sold out quickly and immediately gained cult status among enthusiasts.
