The Mercedes-AMG GT was introduced as AMG’s own dedicated front-mid-engined sports car, developed to sit at the heart of the brand’s modern performance identity. With its long bonnet, compact cabin, rear transaxle layout and hand-built 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, the AMG GT represented a clear return to the classic front-engine, rear-drive performance coupe formula, executed through a distinctly modern AMG lens.

The AMG GT R took that platform and sharpened it substantially.
